About this Podcast

HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm thrilled to be talking with a specialist in virtual set design. Can you tell us a bit about your journey into this field and what drew you to Halloween-themed environments? GUEST: Sure, I started out as an architect but found more creativity in virtual design. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, so I combined these passions to create spooky, immersive virtual sets. HOST: That's fascinating! How does the 3D modeling you teach in the course help bring these spooky visions to life? GUEST: 3D modeling is essential for creating realistic environments. It allows designers to craft every detail, from creepy cobwebs to haunted houses, making the viewer feel like they're part of the scene. HOST: And what about set decoration - how does that factor into the course and the design process? GUEST: Set decoration is about adding elements that tell a story. In our course, we focus on adding Halloween-specific items, like jack-o'-lanterns, graveyard tombstones, and other eerie props to enhance the atmosphere. HOST: I see. Now, virtual effects are another crucial part of the course. Can you share how they contribute to the overall design? GUEST: Of course. Virtual effects, like lighting and particle systems, can make or break a design. They set the mood, whether it's a dimly lit, foggy graveyard or a well-lit, festive pumpkin patch. HOST: It sounds like the course covers a lot of ground, catering to both beginners and seasoned pros. What challenges have you faced teaching this subject, and how have you addressed them? GUEST: The biggest challenge is keeping up with rapidly evolving technology. We constantly update the course content to ensure students learn the most current techniques and tools. HOST: That's great to hear. Finally, where do you see the future of Halloween virtual set design heading, and how might this course prepare students for those changes? GUEST: I believe virtual reality and augmented reality will play a significant role in the future of Halloween virtual set design. Our course already covers VR and AR basics, giving students a head start in this exciting industry. HOST: Thank you so much for joining us today and sharing your insights into the world of Halloween virtual set design. It's been a real treat! GUEST: My pleasure, thanks for having me. I hope listeners will be inspired to explore their creativity and consider a career in this unique and growing field.
